BA Contemporary Visual Culture

Our Real World Engagement Guest Lecturer lunch-time series kicked off today with a great talk from Sheena Barrett ,   Curator at The Lab and Assistant Arts Officer, Dublin City Arts Office. Sheena spoke about the work of The Lab and reflected on the different ways in which audiences engage with objects in museums versus galleries.  The Lab commissions a writer to develop a critical response for each show: another potential opportunity for CVC graduates! The talk was followed by a lively question and answer session.  The Guest Lecturer series runs every Tuesday 1.30-2.30 in  NA003, North House Annex, Grangegorman campus . The series is run in conjunction with the second year CVC Real World module where students are working on research placements in various cultural venues around Dublin.   

CVC lecturer Dr EL Putnam will be giving a talk on 'Monstrous Mothers' as part of the Open Day events this Thursday 24 November at 10.30 in North House Studios. The talk will give a n overview of cultural representations of monstrous mothers, surveying the fears and otherness manifest in these maternal figurations from Medea to Disney and Irish Contemporary Art.

Come along and see our new campus at DIT Grangegorman, meet the CVC staff and attend a sample lecture on Monstrous Mothers... There will be information sessions on the CVC course at 10.00 and 4.00 in the North House Studios where you can meet current students and alumni as well as members of the course team. The 2017 DIT Graduate Student Exhibition, entitled 'Making a Show', opened last night at the DIT Grangegorman campus  @DITGradEx  Excerpts from final year dissertations by the CVC students were presented in this beautiful booklet, designed by their colleagues in Visual Communications.  Pick one up at our next Open Day!
