Careers and Further Study

Graduates of the BA Contemporary Visual Culture will be able to work in visual culture industries, in sectors promoting and mediating visual culture. These roles include:

researchers, audience advocates, exhibition planners, project archivists, cultural policy advisors, research developers, and cultural journalists: critics, writers and broadcasters for publications and popular media on visual culture.   

Graduates may also apply for postgraduate study: Masters, MPhil projects and PhD Programmes. Relevant subject areas include: 

Art History, Theory or Criticism; Design History, Theory or Criticism; Visual and Critical Studies, Visual and Material Culture; Museum Studies, Film Studies, Cultural Policy, Arts Management.  

We currently have graduates working in the museum and gallery sector, web development, project development and publishing. 

Graduates have completed or are doing Masters, MPhil and PhD studies in Film Studies, Visual and Critical Studies, Art in the Contemporary World, Cultural Policy and Arts Management and Material Cultures of Commemorative Exhibitions across DIT, Trinity, NCAD and UCD.
