Placements in Industry

Every second year student has a placement option to work in a Visual Culture industry.

2018 placement partners included the Little Museum of Dublin, Visual Artists Ireland (VAI), the Institute of Creative Advertising and Design (ICAD) and the 'Electric Irish Homes' exhibition at the Museum of Country Life.

What our Industry Placement Partners say

The Irish Museum of Modern Art
Irish Museum of Modern Art
IMMA’s Education and Community department has enjoyed a multi-faceted working relationship with DIT’s various faculties in their Art and Design schools for many years and the recent involvement in the BA Visual and Critical Studies (now BA Contemporary Visual Culture) programme is a further realization of our on-going partnership. It was mutually beneficial for the museum to facilitate a student placement as the student brought an outsider’s view to the engagement with our Artists’ Residency Programme (ARP) and her research was a valuable contribution to the evolving programme.”

 - Helen O’Donoghue , Senior Curator, Head of Education & Community programmes, Irish Museum of Modern Art

“We found the BA Visual and Critical Studies (now BA Contemporary Visual Culture) Research Placement very worthwhile - it was mutually beneficial to both the student and the museum. We are using the work produced on the project in the redevelopment of our website and look forward to future placements.”
- David McKeon, Placement Coordinator, Glasnevin Museum

“The student from the BA Visual and Critical Studies (now BA Contemporary Visual Culture) Research Placement brought skills we didn’t have to the museum and acquired some more from us. His research work was invaluable to us and of great use subsequently. We were impressed by his professional approach and enthusiasm for the project.”

- Brian Crowley, Director, Pearse Museum
