Elaine McDevitt gave CVC students and colleagues from Vis Com the benefit of her experience of working as a manager in the advertising and design sector in Ireland. She drew attention to the long (but hidden) history of women in the advertising and design industries and cautioned against misspelling the name of the Creative Director to whom you are applying for a job!

CVC Visiting Lecturer Sheena Barrett (LAB)

Our Real World Engagement Guest Lecturer lunch-time series kicked off today with a great talk from Sheena Barrett ,   Curator at The Lab and Assistant Arts Officer, Dublin City Arts Office. Sheena spoke about the work of The Lab and reflected on the different ways in which audiences engage with objects in museums versus galleries.  The Lab commissions a writer to develop a critical response for each show: another potential opportunity for CVC graduates! The talk was followed by a lively question and answer session.  The Guest Lecturer series runs every Tuesday 1.30-2.30 in  NA003, North House Annex, Grangegorman campus . The series is run in conjunction with the second year CVC Real World module where students are working on research placements in various cultural venues around Dublin.
